Happy Diwali...🌸

Hello readers,

I am mori sejal. I am studying in B.A.with English  at government arts college talaja. I am student of semester 3.  Today, This blog is diwali  festival why celebrate in diwali ?

• Diwali festival..

As a symbol of the triumph of virtues over the vices within human beings, people light small earthen lamps filled with oil and place them in tiny clay pots. The five-day festival of diwali Pebegins with the rising of the new moon, falling between October 13 and November 14. According to the hindu calendar , it is observed at the end of the month of Ashwin and the beginning of Kartik, on the day of the new moon. The celebration starts on the 13th day of the dark fortnight of Ashwin (the 28th tithi of Ashwin) and concludes on the second day of the bright fortnight of Kartik (the 2nd tithi of Kartik). There are regional variations in the main days of celebration.

In many parts of India and Nepal, according to Hindu belief, this festival commemorates the return of lord rama after 14 years of exile and his victory over ravana Over time, the name of the festival evolved into diwali in hindu and diwali in nepali though in the southern and eastern regions of India, the original term is still preserved.

In Jainism, Diwali symbolizes the attainment of Nirvana by Lord mahavira on October 15, 527 BCE.

The meaning of Diwali is a garland of lamps (in Sanskrit, deep = lamp and avali = row or garland). In many modern languages, especially in North India, it is popularly known by its shorter name “Diwali.” Different communities celebrate the festival over varying numbers of days. Although the main days of celebration in India and Nepal are the same and occur simultaneously, they may fall in different Gregorian months, depending on the version of the Hindu calendar followed in each region.

Return of Rama to Ayodhya:
After 14 years of exile and the death of Ravana in battle, Lord Rama, the king of Ayodhya, returned to his kingdom along with his wife sita and brother lakshman. Diwali is also celebrated to commemorate this joyous homecoming. It is believed that the people of Ayodhya lit lamps filled with ghee to illuminate the dark paths and welcome Rama back. Since Rama traveled from South India to reach his kingdom in the North, passing through the southern regions first, the festival is celebrated one day earlier in South India for this reason.

Spiritual Significance:
The festival of Diwali, known as the “festival of light,” carries its deepest spiritual meaning as the “awakening of the inner light.” According to Hindu philosophy, beyond the physical body and the mind, there exists something pure, infinite, and eternal — the soul (atman). Just as we celebrate our physical birth, Diwali is a celebration of the inner illumination, the awakening of one’s true self.

When this inner light is realized, darkness is dispelled  all difficulties and ignorance vanish  and a person becomes aware of their true nature, not merely as a body, but as the unchanging, infinite, universal, and transcendent reality.

With the realization of the soul comes compassion, love, and awareness of oneness with all creation  a state of higher wisdom. This leads to true joy, an inner peace and bliss.

Diwali is celebrated with fireworks, lights, flowers, sweets, and devotion. Though the stories and legends associated with Diwali vary across regions, the core essence remains the same — celebrating the joy of inner light (the soul) or the ultimate truth that underlies everything (brahman).

Five days In India and around the world, the festival of Diwali is celebrated over five days. Except for Diwali itself, the names of all other days are based on the dates (tithis) from the Hindu calendar.

Vashu baras :
The word Baras means the twelfth day, and Vasu means cow. On this day, cows and calves are worshipped.

Dhan teras
The word Dhan means “wealth,” and Trayodashi means the “thirteenth day.” As the name suggests, this festival falls on the thirteenth day of the second half of the lunar month. This day is considered auspicious for purchasing utensils and gold. It is also celebrated as the birth anniversary of lord dhanvantari, who emerged during the churning of the ocean (samudra manthan) by the gods and demons.
Kali chaudas is considered a special day for practitioners of occult knowledge. They believe that performing rituals in the cremation ground on this day helps them complete all their spiritual practices and strengthens their mystical powers. During these days, goddess Jagdamba is worshipped in three different forms.

In Gujarat,
Diwali is considered the last day of the year, and this day holds great importance for traders. Every businessperson in Gujarat — from the smallest workshop owner to the largest company owner — performs the worship of their account books (chopda pujan ) at an auspicious time on this day.

In earlier times, traders used to worship their traditional red account books, which can still be seen in some places today. However, in the modern age of computers, traders have replaced those red books with laptops. Yet, their devotion and purity of worship remain just as sincere as before.

For Gujarati traders, Diwali marks the worship of their business accounts, offering prayers for the profits earned throughout the year and symbolically closing the year’s transactions. After this, they begin their business anew in the new year — usually starting from Kartik Sud Ekam (the first day of the Kartik month) or sometimes on the fifth or seventh day, according to their tradition.

After Krishna’s victory over Narkasur came to be celebrated as a symbol of the triumph of good over evil. The day before Diwali is remembered as Narak Chaturdashi, the day when Krishna killed Narakasura. Many Hindus associate this festival with goddess lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity, and the consort of Lord vishnu.
New year : A Day of Joy and Blessings
In Gujarat, the new year that begins on karta sud ekamis known as nutan varsh or Bestu Varsh. The day begins early in the morning with the bursting of fireworks and enthusiastic celebrations to welcome the new year. According to Hindu belief, a new day begins at four o’clock in the early morning.

Bhai dooj :
Bhai Dooj is celebrated to honor the unique bond between brothers and sisters, symbolizing their love, care, and mutual protection. Sisters perform rituals like applying a tilak to their brothers' foreheads and praying for their long life, while brothers promise to protect their sisters. The celebration involves exchanging gifts, enjoying special meals, and reinforcing family connections through mythological stories like that of Yama and Yamuna or Lord Krishna and Subhadra.

Strengthening sibling bonds: The festival is a dedicated time for brothers and sisters to express their love and appreciation for each other.

Protection and well-being: Sisters pray for their brothers' long life and well-being, and according to legend, these rituals provide protection from evil and harm.
Brother's promise: In return, brothers make a promise to protect their sisters and shower them with gifts and blessings.

• Mythological origins:

Yama and Yamuna: One legend says the god of death, Yama, visited his sister Yamuna, who celebrated by applying a tilak on his forehead. Yama then blessed the day, making it a tradition for brothers to visit their sisters for a special greeting.

Lord Krishna and Subhadra: Another story tells of Lord Krishna visiting his sister Subhadra after defeating a demon. She welcomed him by performing a ritual with a tilak and sweets, which is said to have initiated the festival.

✨about teacher...

My first teachers are my parents, who have give me an introduce. After that, all these who guided me from darkness to light are my teachers. A teacher is a guru. Teacher hold great importance in our life.

Teacher is not just a word, but a person who shows us the path of life. They give us knowledge, help us grow, and inspire us to become good citizen.

A teacher is not just  someone who teacher lesson in classroom. A teacher is a friend, a guide, and a mentor. They shows us the right path in life, they give us knowledge, and they inspire us to dream big. Teachers light the lamp ignorance from our minds.

Teachers not only teach us subject like science, math or literature, but they also teach us values discipline, kindness, honesty and respect. They help us to  belive in ourselves and encourage us to overcome every difficulty.

On special day, I wan to take a moment to thank all my teachers for their patience, hard work, and love. Dear teacher yo are truly our role models and our guiding lights. We are grateful for everything you for us.

In my opinion, teacher is not made just earning a degree, but when the whole class feels sad if the teachers does not come, then that person is real teacher when student  feel had just be seeing a teachers smile, that is when  on truly become a teacher.

I have many teacher who inspire, give me knowledge, and guide me, I cannot say that there was only one. In my life, I consider anyone from  I get inspiration on learn something ad my teacher whether that person in older them me ai ever yonger them me.

An activity was conducted by the  students of English department, semester 03.in this activity, a topic was selected from one of the ICT tools  I prepared a video on  blog presentation , which is as follows:

My blog presentation:

My experience:
In government arts college, teachers day was celebrated, in which I participated. I had to go to college in the morning. I left  home and reached the bus station at 7:30.tje bus was scheduled at 8:00 and my lecture was at 9:30.But  what happened was that the bus did not come at all, so I started worrying about Whether it would arrive or not. This was the first time in my life that I participated in teachers day. I was time, thinking  whether I would reach or not. At one point, I even thought about not going to college. But then I decided that I must go. Finally, at 9:00, the  bus  arrived, and I reached college. This teacher's day  will never forgotten. I taught a paragraph translation from gujarati to English from our syllabus major 7 paper. Teachers are never ordinary; they have to work very hard. For just half an hour of teaching, I had to prepare so much. But teachers have to teach different class every day. How do they  manage  to remember everything? It is only when we stand in their place that we realize the dignity of a teacher. People dream  of becoming IAS officers, engineers, loyer but my dream is to become a teacher one day.

Let us all promise  today that I will always respect our teachers and follow their teachers in our lives... ✨

Thank you...!

Translated from  Urdu by pavan k. Varma:

The heart seeks again those momentnt of leisure

When all day and night we just sat thinking of the beloved.

The heart seeks again those moment of leisure.

Lying in the  mellow winter sun

The shade of your aanchal pulled over my  eyes

Face, down, and sometimes on one's side

Or, on summer nights, when the east wind blows

To lie awake for long  on cold white   sheets

Sprawled on the roof, gazing at the stars.

On some cold snowy night perhaps

To sit again in the embrace of that       mountain

And listen to the silence echoing in the valley.

The heart seeks again those moment of leisure when all day and night we just sat thinking of the beloved.

An Activity presented by the  semester 03 students of the English Department:

This poem  was taught to us  very well by hina ma'am he taught it to us using simple English words. She made great efforts so that we could remember it by playing the song of the  poem. An  activity was also conducted by her, which is as follows.

In the translation paper, there is a ghazal, so to help us remember it well, Hina  madam organized an event. The theme of this  activity was to  come  wearing black and pink colour clothes. In the morning  lecture, the activity was inaugurated by Hina  madam's speech. Various designs were drawn on the board as part of the activity. It was nice and wonderful. After that,  the activity began in the  third  lecture. Dr. Purvi madam and heena madam from  the English department were present. It was decided to sing  a poem by Gulzar. Two circles were formed.

After that, purvi madam guided us. then, we all sang  the Gazal 'dil dhudhta hai' together. Afterwords, it was translated into English. Finally, we took group photos together. The delightful  thing is  that Hina madam and purvi madam also cam wearing the same  clothes as ours. They stayed  with us  and guided us. They work hard  for us.

My Experience in this Activity :

When Hina ma'am asked  us to  sing the gazal, I  wondered how we would present it. There  was a nervous feeling in my mind that this presentation might not happen. Honestly, it was difficult, and we worked  hard  to present it. Hina madam made us  practice  many times. This activity was quite challenges. We  made  small  mistakes here and there, but overall, it turned out to be a  wonderful activity.

I express my heartfelt gratitude to  Hina ma'am for conducting this Activity so wonderfully with gulzar's gazal. We might have memorised the ghazal here and there on our own, but Hina madam explained it clearly and , through the Activity, helped us  remember it even better. Thank you Hina ma'am.

Thank you..!

rakshabandhan ... ✨

Hello everyone,  I am mori sejal. I am studying  in B.A. With English at government arts college, talaja. This blog about rakshabandhan...

A monotonous life makes us  fell bored. The various festival that throughout the year fill our lives with joy and enthusiasm. Moreover, religions festivals inspire our  sense of faith, and national festivals encourage our patriotic fellings. Social festivals bring sweetness to our social relationships.

Since the festival of rakshabandhan is celebrated by people of all sections of society, it is our social festival. Móreover because of its religious significance, it can also be called religious festival.

Rakhi is a reminder that no matter how much we grow up, our bond will never change.

Rakshabandhan falls on the full moon day of the month of shravan this festival expresses the pure love between brothers and sisters . On the day of rakhsha bandhan, both brother and sister  get ready, and sister applies a Vermilion (kumkum) tilak on her brothers forehead and sticks rice grains on it. Then she ties a rakhi on her brother's rights wrist. The brother and sister feed sweets to each other. The sister perform an ovarna  (ritual to ward off evil) for her brother and gives heartfelt blessings or good wishes. The brother according to his ability, gives his sister a gift.

Why celebrate rakshabandhan? :

*   There are mythological stories associated with rakhshabandhan ..

*   In the bhavishya purana one  such story is popular. When the gods began to lose in a battle against the  demons, they went to Lord indra to find a solution to their problem. Seeing the gods frightened, indrani(the wife of indra) tied a protective thread (raksha sutra) on their hands. This increased the God's confidence, and they eventually defeated the demons. It is said that from that day on ward, the custom of tying a rakhi to warriors before they went into battle began.

*   In the story of the mahabharata, the festival of raksha bandhan is mentioned repeatedly. Whem the war of the mahabharata was decided, yudhishthira was very worried. He asked Lord shree krishna, "how can i overcome all the difficulties? " Then Lord shree krishna advised him to celebrate the festival of raksha bandhan for his army. The Lord said that this silk thread  holds such power that it will protect you in every difficulty. With his same sentiment, before going to fight in the war, kunti tied  a protective thread (raksha sutra) on abhimanu's wrist.

*  There is another touching incident that reflects Draupadi's brotherly affection, in which we also catch a glimpse of the bond between shree krishna and dropadi .during  the shishiuala slaying in the mahabharata, Lord krishna's finger was cut by the sudarshan chakra. At onces dropadi tore a strip from the edge oh her saree and tied it around his finger as a bandage. This happened On the  sacred day of shravan  purnima. In return, Lord shree krishna protected dropadi by providing her with as many yards of cloth as  there were thread in that strip of fabric.

Some sisters go to prisons to tie rakhis to the inmates and offer them good wishes for a transformed life.

*   Rakshabandhan laso holds religious significance. Brahmins tie rakhis to their patrons, and the patrons give the brahmins  offerings according to their means. On this day, brahmins go to the River or seashore  to ewar the sacred thread (janoi) . On this days, coastal farmers and fishermen offer coconuts and worship the sea God. Therefore, it is also known as naliyeri punam (coconut full moon day). 🙂💫....

celebration of 'guru purnima'

Hello everyone, I am mori sejal. I am studying B. A with english at government arts college talaja. I talk about  celebration of On the occasion of 'guru purnima'.

 गुरुब्रह्म गुरुविष्णु:गुरुर्देवो महेश्वर:।
गुरु: साक्षात परब्रह्म तस्मै श्री गुरुवे नम:।।

Guru purnima is sacred festival celebrated in India and nepal and bhutan by hindus and Buddhists .honor spiritual and academic teacher. Observed on the full moon day of ashadha month in the hindu calender. It is dedicated to expressing gratitude to gurus for the their guidance and wisdom. The day is significant in various spiritual traditional including hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.
This day is also the birthday of ved vyas, the author of Mahabharata. He was a great scholar of sanskrit.

Teacher can change lives with just the right mix of chalk and challenges...

In the scriptures, the meaning of 'gu'  explained as darkness or basic ignorance and the meaning of ' ru' is explained as its remover. Guruis called guru because he removes the darkness of ignore with the lamp of knowledge.

A small program was organized at our  college. I would like to share a few things about it here.

On the occasion of  guru purnima,  the program began with a short prayer. The principal of our college, Dr. Manisha madam was also present at the event, along with all faculty members.

Dr. Manisha madamof welcomed with bouquet of flowers. After that, the program officially began. On this occasion, manisha madam share A few thoughts about gurupurnima. She spoke about the relationship between a disciple and a teacher, explaining that a guru is someone from whom we learn something. That person may be young or old, but if  we gain knowledge from them, They are considered a teacher. She also gave a wonderful example of Socrates. She explained that the more we think we know about ourselves, the more there is yet to learn.

After than, Dr. Pandya sir share a few thoughts. He said that a guru is such a person who can never be measured. He gave the best example of guru vishnu sharma and his disciples. Vishnu sharma taught his disciples by behaving like them and teaching them in a way they could understand. Based on this example, panya sir taught us something a new creating our mind.

After that, a elocution competition was organized in the program. In this   competition , students of the college delivered speech on various topics related to guru purnima. All the participate spoke very well. The panel of judges for the competition included vyas sir, bhaliya sir and hina ma'am. We learned frome these three judges that in life, every decision should be made thoughtfully and wish in life.

Thus, on the occasion of guru purnima, a very beautiful program was organized in our college. We understood how important a teacher is in over life. It also help realize the valuable place that parents hold in our life.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone for organized that wonderful program.
